Late night thoughts in Minnesota

I will no longer be writing from South Philadelphia, as I have returned to Minnesota. Philadelphia did not agree with me and I have been looking forward to leaving that city for quite some time. Now I look to a future back in the land of my birth, in the land of lakes, near much of my family.

I sit in the dark tonight, after all of the others in the house have gone to bed. I am listening to commentators on the BBC talk of robots and of the possibility of having a relationship with artificial intelligence.

I saw my father today for the first time in many months and tomorrow I will spend several hours with he and my mother. I love the idea that I have the rest of their lives to ask them about anything I want to, and to make memories with them that will last in my memory likely long after they inevitably pass into death. I have made my peace with them and now I get to make memories with them as friends and adults.

Reasons to choose vegetarian

Walking around South Philly this afternoon snapping photos of the ugliness interspersed with beauty I saw a sign for a Vegetarian website and after glancing through it I think it gives a good set of reasons and arguments for choosing to not eat meat. My favorite reason not to eat meat is that I think it tastes gross.

I'll post some of the photos of our walk in the coming day or so.
